Visit the historic Diamond P Ranch, only 7 miles from Yellowstone’s west gate.

MORNING RIDE - 3 hour

  • Ride through the Gallatin National Forest and enjoy its natural beauty on horseback. See views of Hebgen Lake and the Continental Divide, along with hills, streams, and wildlife, all while enjoying the fresh air of the forest. Our small group sizes offer a more personal experience with our knowledgeable guides.

  • $125/person, minimum age is 6 yrs.

  • Please arrive by a least 9:00 am. You must be present for trip instructions, horse assignment, and mounting.

    Weight Limit: For the safety of guests and horses, the weight limit is 250 pounds. You must be physically able to mount your horse unassisted. Pregnant women are not permitted to ride.

AFTERNOON RIDE - 2 hour

  • Ride through the Gallatin National Forest and enjoy its natural beauty on horseback. See views of Hebgen Lake and the Continental Divide, along with hills, streams, and wildlife, all while enjoying the fresh air of the forest. Our small group sizes offer a more personal experience with our knowledgeable guides.

  • $105/person, minimum age is 6 yrs.

PRIVATE RIDES $300 - Call to Book

Private rides are 4 hours long and are offered at 9am and 1pm. Riders must be 10 years or older. Lunch is provided.

  • Camp on the ranch with your horse and living quarters horse trailer. Access our incredible trail systems through the Gallatin National Forest right from your camp site, nestled in the beautiful south meadows of the ranch.

FAQ

  • Wear long pants or jeans, boots or closed-toed shoes (no sandals) tennis shoes are ok, and layered clothing. Small horn bags are on each saddle to accommodate cell phone or camera, bottled water, snacks, and medications. We provide helmets and rain slickers free of charge. We ride rain or shine.

  • You will be riding into the Gallatin National Forest overlooking Yellowstone National Park and the Continental Divide. All of our guided horseback rides leave from our ranch and venture into the mountains. We are the only horseback riding facility West of West Yellowstone on US Highway 20 that has a Forest Service Permit to ride in the Gallatin National Forest.

  • We are located at 2865 Targhee Pass Hwy, West Yellowstone, MT 59758. Click here for map. We are 7 miles west of the west gate to Yellowstone National Park on the North side of Hwy 20 (Targhee Pass Hwy). There is a large wooden archway that marks the entrance to the ranch. Check into the office inside the red barn.

  • Children are welcome! We are a family-friendly ranch and all riders must be 6 years old at the date of the ride. All riders will have their own horse. We have mounting blocks to help assist riders on and off the horses. If anyone in your party would like to come meet the staff, horses and see our program we welcome you to come early to get acquainted. We are here to provide a fun and safe riding experience to all riders.

  • Yes, and thank you for asking. Our weight limit is 250 lbs. The weight limit is for both the rider’s safety as well as the horse’s. We have mounting blocks that each rider will use to get on and off the horse. You must be able to mount your horse unassisted. Our staff is by your side assisting to provide a safe mounting experience. At the time of booking please provide your weight and skill level so we can select the right horse for you.

  • If you need to change or cancel your reservation contact the ranch 48 hours prior to your scheduled ride time to get your deposit refunded. If a change or cancellation is made within the 48-hour window, then the deposit will not be refunded. Rescheduling a ride is based on availability. You can call the ranch at 406-646-0606 or email at lisa.grimsley83110@outlook.com to notify of any change or cancellation to the reservation. The ranch is closed on Sundays. If you need to cancel the reservation for Monday's rides contact the ranch on Saturday.

  • We ride rain or shine. Rain slickers are provided free of charge. If we decide that the weather or trail conditions are unsafe, we will contact you to cancel and attempt to reschedule. If you decide to cancel due to weather and we still plan to ride your deposit will not be refunded. Rescheduling of rides will be based on availability.

  • We will need first names of each rider, weights, and ages if 14 or under. You will need to provide a valid email and phone #. A 75% deposit is due at the time of booking.

  • Absolutely! We encourage you to take photos to capture your experience. Each ride will stop at a scenic overlook so each rider has the opportunity to take photos. Our skilled guides are there to help capture these memories. Each saddle will have a horn bag for your smaller personal items such as a cell phone, bottle of water, and a snack.

  • Yes, we want you to stay hydrated. Our horn bags will accommodate a bottle of water and other small personal items you want to take along on the trail. We do sell bottled water in our gift shop.

  • No. Cross body bags, back packs or fanny packs are not allowed. This is for your safety and the safety of the other riders. We have horn bags for all your small personal items.

  • All our rides are WALK ONLY. The trails are narrow (single file) and the terrain doesn’t allow for anything faster than a walk.

  • Absolutely! We love large groups. We strongly recommend you book early so we can accommodate your group.

  • Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled ride time. Upon arrival check into the office and get prepared for a ride of a lifetime. We have a friendly and engaging staff, beautiful horses, and breathtaking views so we invite you to come early and take in all that the ranch has to offer.

  • Gratuities are gladly accepted!!! If you feel that your guide(s) did an exceptional job you are welcome to add the gratuity to your credit card or offer them cash. We pride ourselves in the outstanding service they extend to you and if you want to reward them for a job well done they will greatly appreciate it.

  • We take reservations throughout the year. You can make a reservation online or by calling the ranch at 406-646-0606. We open in mid-May and our last day is Sept 30.
